BigBlueButton sessions can be recorded to allow students who are not able to attend the synchronous session to review the shared information. Recordings will include chat, audio, and visuals from the session.

Creating BigBlueButton Recordings

  1. Click Turn editing on in the top-right corner of your main course page.
  2. Click Edit settings in the Edit drop-down menu next to the BigBlueButton room link.
  3. Ensure that Session can be recorded checkbox is checked under General Settings/Welcome Message. This will program BigBlueButton to record all activity in this particular classroom.

Accessing BigBlueButton Recordings

BigBlueButton recordings must be set up separately from the live classroom session. You only need one RecordingsBN resource to house all of the recordings within your course.

  1. Click Turn editing on in the top-right corner of your main course page.
  2. Click the Add an activity or resource hyperlink in the module you would like the resource to be added.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and click the RecordingsBN radio button; click Add.
  4. The only required field is the Recordings name line. This will display as the name of the resource link on the course page.
  5. Click Save and return to course at the bottom of the page. Your new Recordings resource will appear on the course page at the bottom of the module.
  6. Once a BigBlueButton session has been held, click on the link to view a recording of the session. Please allow up to 24 hours for a recorded session to appear in the Recordings resource.
