Grades: Troubleshooting Negative Grades in the Grader Report

You may encounter a negative grade in the course total that looks like this:

Course total: -(30.26%) A (98.03%) -(27.43%) A (94.51%)
This issue is usually caused by the letter grades being set up incorrectly. To verify and correct:

This issue is usually caused by the letter grades being set up incorrectly. To verify and correct the problem:

    1. Choose Grades from the course menu.
    2. Choose the Letters tab in the Grader Report screen.
    3. The lowest percentage listed is most likely something other than zero:
      In this example, the lowest percentage listed is 50%.
    4. In the same Letters screen, choose the Edit tab.
    5. You’ll see some blank spaces at the bottom of the list of letters and percentages.
      • In the left side column, enter a letter or word (for example: F or Incomplete).
      • In the right side column, enter 0.
    6. Click Save Changes.
    7. Access the Grader Report to verify this has fixed the issue.
