Assignments: How to Create a Turnitin Assignment

Turnitin is a plagiarism detection tool integrated with Moodle assignments. The following steps walk through how to create a Turnitin assignment.

  1. Go to the main page of your course and click Turn editing on in the administration block.
  2. Scroll to the module where you would like to create the Turnitin assignment.
  3. Click Add an Activity or resource.
  4. Select Turnitin Assignment 2.
  5. You must enter a name for the assignment.
  6. These are the recommended general settings:

  7. Select the number of points the assignment will be worth in the Grade
  8. You must enter a name for the Part (“Part 1” is the default name). You must also adjust the start date to the date when students should be able to submit, adjust the due date to the date when the assignment is due, adjust the post date to the day when students should be able to see their grade, and ensure the Max Marks match the points you assigned in the Overall grade

  9. Select Save and Return to course or Save and Display.
